We also understand that PowerSchool is providing notification of this event on its website and to media and state regulators. PowerSchool has committed to providing identity protection and monitoring services as needed. BSSD has notified our cyber insurance and district leadership and it is important to note that this data breach did not occur because of action or lack of action by any of the employees of Bering Strait School District. This data breach occurred through the support tools that PowerSchool (the company) uses to assist districts when they call in for technical support. Please read the attached letter regarding the recent cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, a software vendor which provides our Student Information System (SIS).
