prom

On the night of May 2nd, prom took place! The dance was casino-themed, and grades 9-12 attended. Students arrived at the MPR to see the walls and ceilings decorated with white cloths and sparkly red and black streamers to match the theme. There were several tables for the students to sit and hang out with friends. Many snacks and drinks, like charcuteries and sweets, were served by students in middle school.

This year's prom was hosted by the juniors. The junior class is small, being made up of six boys and one girl, so they enlisted a few other high schoolers to help. Several staff members stepped in to help, too, since the junior class advisor, Ms. Jaimie, was attending a conference. Set-up was led by Ms. Rayna and Ms. Mori, while food prep was handled by Mr. Busk and Ms. Teri, and others volunteered to chaperone, including Sir Apollo, Sir Aldin, and Ms. Shy.

Throughout the night, friend groups hung out and took pictures at the photo booth, which was adorned with balloons, large playing cards, and dice handmade by Ourea. Music was DJ’d by Ms. Kezia, like the last three years. During the hours of prom, many different genres of music were played. The highlight of the night was during the last few songs played, when everybody got up and danced.

With one hour left of prom, the court royalty was announced by Ms. Rayna. The Lord and Lady were Harold and Turi, the Duke and Duchess were Joshua and Isabella, the Prince and Princess were Alex N. and Lilah, and lastly, the King and Queen were Violet and Carter Gray. The court was voted by students.

Everybody had a fun time and enjoyed the snacks and music. Students complimented the decor and everyone was happy with the turnout.
